The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a collection of litter in the North Pacific Ocean. The litter ends up in the ocean, seas, and other large bodies of water. The issue is people's trash in the water which harms the animals living there. To explain how have people contributed to it: People throw away plastic, and when they do it sometimes makes it to the landfill. When it doesn't make it to the landfill the wind ends up blowing it into the water, or someone finds it and puts it in their trash. When it does make it to the landfill it is sometimes still blown into the water. It is a problem because it harms animals and our enviorment.
